Previously, if you obtained a Florida or Utah permit, you acquired quite a few states where you could carry legally, but in 2007, the Tennessee permit became valid in all the same states as the Florida permit, and the Utah permit only adds the additional state of Washington, but if you live in a another state besides Tennessee, obtaining Utah or Florida permit may still be a good idea. Maine and Massachusetts do not recognize other states' permits, but issue non-resident permits, so they may be worth considering if you travel to those states. Be sure to check all states' requirements before applying. In 2007, Nevada began recognizing a few other states' permits (TN included) and you can still apply for a non-resident Nevada permit. There are some differences of opinion on Nevada reciprocity requirements, so if you travel there using your home state permit, I recommend you check with the local PD.
